It's the end of another school year and what a crazy year it has been for all of us. The staff and faculty of the Department of Communication want to thank you for sticking with it through the most tumultuous year of all of our lives - your persistence in the face of a global pandemic is commendable and inspiring! Here’s the final edition of Comm-Announce for 2020-2021 including the list of Communication graduates, award winners, internship opportunities, and some other reminders. First, some information on your subscription to Comm-Announce.

We will resume publication of Comm-Announce at the start of the new school year in August. If you want to continue to receive Comm-Announce, do nothing; we'll keep you on our list. You are welcome to continue receiving this weekly mailing, even if you are graduating but want to keep tabs on what is going on around the Department--if that is the case, be sure to sign up with a non-UofL email in the newsletter subscription center on our website.

If you don't want to receive Comm-Announce anymore, send email to In the body of the message, type "SIGNOFF Comm-Announce" and nothing else. Make sure that you do it from the email account under which you are subscribed. That's it-your cancellation from the list should be automatic.

Join us in congratulating Paige Wills as our outstanding graduate student and Kolbie Vincent as our outstanding undergraduate student for the 2020-2021 school year.

Paige Wills is completing her Master’s degree in Communication while working at the same time for UofL’s School of Public Health as a marketing and communication coordinator. Wills said her experience as a Communication graduate student has had a direct impact on her work at UofL. “I believe having the opportunity to be a graduate student gave me an advantage in my current position as I was able to see first-hand what it’s like to be a student at UofL. This gave me the opportunity to implement some of my experiences and those of my classmates into the work I do every day to help ensure we meet students’ needs and expectations.” The Department of Communication faculty salute Paige for being able to continue her professional work while simultaneously achieving excellence in the classroom.

The Department of Communication is also pleased to recognize Kolbie Vincent as our outstanding graduating senior. Kolbie is from Edmonson County, Kentucky and is graduating with a dual major in Communication and Psychology as well as a minor in Social Change. She said the best thing about being a Communication major has been the faculty. “They have truly been an inspiration and a constant support system these past four years.” Kolbie plans to continue her education at UofL by pursuing a Masters in Communicative Disorders so she can become a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Congratulations to Paige and Kolbie; our faculty, staff and your fellow students are proud of your achievements and wish you both the best!

Finally, we are happy to recognize 5 graduate students and 130 undergraduates who are finishing up their Communication degree programs. Congratulations to all of you for your achievement! Here's the list of our graduating students:
