As we wind down the 2020-2021 school year, we have the latest news for you from the UofL Department of Communication in this week’s Comm-Announce.

The local young advertising professionals chapter, Ad2, is having a “Personal Branding” series of workshops and it is open and free for all students. Understand and create your personal brand from local experts, learn how to pitch your brand to potential employers, and understand best practices for virtual interviews. The first workshop is on April 21 about developing your brand, then you’ll get the opportunity to put into practice what you learned and get some final advice about resumes, portfolios and interviewing. Earn academic credit while you work as a Comm 111, Comm 112, and Comm 115 speech mentor during the upcoming 2021-22 school year. The Department of Communication Speaker’s Center hopes to provide both in-person mentoring in the fall as well as online appointments.

If you have junior/senior standing, are a Communication major, have previously taken Comm 111 or Comm 112 and passed with a "B" or "A" average, and have taken or are enrolled for the fall semester Comm 302 Advanced Public Speaking, you are eligible. The David J. Clarke Memorial Scholarship is $5,000 and awarded to a full-time undergraduate student who is pursuing a media related degree, and is interested in pursuing a career is some aspect of the TV industry.
