Prerequisite: 18 hours in Department, 3.0 GPA overall and 3.2 GPA in major. Opportunity to work one-on-one with a professor to conduct research or perform community service.

The learning outcomes for an independent study vary depending on the goals established by the student and the professor. Usually, a student has a project he or she would like to pursue and has a professor supervise the project by helping guide the student's research as well as directing the student as to what reading materials should be reviewed to make the most of the project.
