Frequently Asked Questions

How many hours do I need to graduate?
In Communication you need at least 121 hours. Fifty of those hours must be with course that have a 300 number or higher.

How many hours in Communication do I need to take?
It depends. If you are getting a Bachelor of Arts then you can only count 40 communication hours toward your degree. If you are getting a Bachelor of Science you could take up to 60 hours in communication, but only 48 are required.

What are the requirements for becoming a Communication major?
Simple. You need to complete Communication 201 (Introduction to Communication) and earn at least a C in it. You must have a 2.0 GPA overall to apply for a Bachelor of Arts. A Bachelor of Science requires a 2.5 GPA overall because it requires that you complete an Internship, and College Policy requires that you must have a 2.5 GPA overall to register for an Internship.

Do I have to do an Internship to get a degree in Communication?
Any Communication Major can do an internship, but if you are pursuing a Bachelor of Science you MUST do one. If you are uncertain about whether you should do one, then best thing to do is to speak with Professor Esrock about the internship program.
